Frequently asked questions

Everything churches ask before their first Sunday on Scribedeck. Still stuck? Try a demo — it answers most of these in a minute.

Getting started

Do I need to install anything?

No. Scribedeck runs entirely in your browser — on the office laptop, the booth computer, a phone, or an iPad. There's nothing to download and nothing to update.

Can I try it without signing up?

Yes. Pick either demo on the home page — sermon notes into slides, or lyrics into worship slides — and you'll build a real deck with no account. Creating a free workspace only matters when you want to save your work and invite your team.

What do I upload?

A Word document (.docx) works best because we can read your highlights, bold, and underlines to know which lines matter. PDFs and phone photos of printed notes work too. Already have slides? Drop in a PowerPoint (or a Keynote exported to PowerPoint) and present it. Or drop a batch of photos and videos to build a rolling slideshow. Or start blank and type.

How does my team share one account?

You create a workspace and get a 6-letter invite code. Anyone who enters it joins the same space — same songs, same saved decks, same order of service. No per-seat fees.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

During the beta it's free for everyone. After that, one simple flat price — $9.99/month, or $100/year (two months free) — for your whole team, unlimited services, every feature. Just-getting-started church plants and very small congregations can write to us.

Will you charge me by surprise?

Never. Nothing is charged today, and when billing begins you'll be told clearly and asked first — we won't put a card on file without you knowing.

ProPresenter and PowerPoint

Does it really work with ProPresenter 7?

Yes. One click gives you a file ProPresenter 7 imports directly — a slide per line, verse references in the footer, your fonts and highlights intact, and every slide fully editable afterward. Your operator doesn't rebuild anything.

Do my background images come through?

Yes — the background comes in as its own layer in ProPresenter's editor, separate from the text, so your operator can swap or clear it and drop in their own media. It's embedded in the PowerPoint export too, and photos on individual slides come through as well.

Can I export text-only slides for our motion backgrounds?

Yes. When you download for ProPresenter you can choose the background: as-shown, plain black, or fully transparent (text only) — so your words drop straight onto whatever motion or media ProPresenter is already playing. You can pick a transparent style right on the style screen, too.

What if we don't use ProPresenter at all?

Then you never have to. Scribedeck Live presents the whole service full-screen from a browser tab, with a projector window for the second screen — no other software needed.

Presenting live

How do I get slides onto the projector?

Open your service or deck link on the computer that's plugged into the projector. The Projector Window button opens a clean output — and if you have a second display connected (extended, not mirrored), it opens right on that screen automatically. Your phone or iPad becomes the remote.

Can it advance the slides for me while I preach?

Yes — that's Voice follow. Turn it on and Scribedeck listens as you speak and moves to the next slide when you reach its words, hands-free. It works in Safari and Chrome, your taps and arrows always override it, and a little panel shows you it's hearing you.

Can the congregation follow along in their own language?

Yes. Put the follow-along QR on screen and anyone can scan it to read every slide on their phone. They can pick their language, and every slide shows up translated for them — with real Bible translations for the verses where we have them (not machine-translated scripture).

Can I keep my sermon notes in front of me?

Yes. Your whole uploaded document rides along with the deck. Open the Notes panel and it sits beside the slides, the lines for the current slide light up, and you can drag it anywhere and resize it. You can even edit it right there. It's optional — off unless you turn it on.

Can I play music and video?

Yes. Add a background video to any slide and a soundtrack to the deck — during Present live you get play/pause, volume, a seek bar, and can switch between songs. Video plays and stays in sync on every screen; music plays from the presenter's device so the room doesn't echo.

Can the preacher draw on a slide?

Yes. Draw right on the slide with a finger or Apple Pencil and the ink appears on the projector and every phone live. By default it clears when you move on — or turn on Keep markings and each slide remembers what you drew for the rest of the service.

Can I share a link with everyone at once?

Yes. Save the links you use — event registration, giving, announcements — and tap Show on the one you need. It appears on every screen: a big QR on the projector and a tap-to-open button on phones.

Can I write on the projector by accident and lose my place?

No. The presenter has a guarded Exit, tap-to-advance pauses while you're drawing, and leaving never blanks the screen — it stays on the current slide until you come back.

For your congregation

Do people need an app to follow along?

No. They scan the QR on screen and it opens in their phone's browser — nothing to install. They see every slide, can pick their language, and it stays on the right slide automatically.

Can people keep their own notes?

Yes, and it's free. Anyone following along can tap My notes to jot down what stands out, and create a free personal account to keep them. Their notes are private — the church never sees them.

Can they save the sermon to look at later?

Yes. When your church allows it, a follower can save that day's presentation to their free account and page through it any time from their personal My Scribedeck page, alongside their notes.

Languages and scripture

What Bible translations are included?

Public-domain translations in 15 languages, filled in automatically from a reference — English (KJV, WEB, ASV and more), plus Spanish, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and others. Licensed translations like NIV and ESV are coming as we add publisher licenses.

Can I present in another language?

Yes. Type slides in any script — Tamil, Hindi, Chinese, Korean, Arabic and more — and the right fonts are used automatically, in the app and in your exports.

Can I turn off the automatic verses?

Yes. If your notes already contain the verse text, flip off “look up Bible verses” and Scribedeck leaves every line exactly as you wrote it.

Your content and data

Who owns my songs and slides?

You do. Your song library is private to your church. Scribedeck never hosts copyrighted lyrics or non-public-domain translations for you — you add your own songs, which stay yours.

How long are my decks kept?

Saved decks and dropped files are kept for 30 days by default, then cleaned up automatically, so download anything you want to keep long-term. Your song library and background designs don't expire.

Is this affiliated with ProPresenter?

No. Scribedeck is independent and not affiliated with Renewed Vision. We simply export a file their software can open.

Ready when you are.
